4Days Marches beds wanted: host the 4Days Marches in your home!

Family Wolters-Splint

HOST FAMILY

If you live in the Nijmegen area and you are not planning on walking the 4Days Marches yourself (this year), you can still be involved in the 4Days Marches by providing lodging to 4Days Marches walkers. Walkers from outside the region greatly depend on host families. Thanks to host families’ good care, participants can be well rested at the starting line every day. It is a lot of fun to have walkers stay with you and they will be grateful to you forever!

Doing something for walkers

The Wolters-Splint family has been hosting 4Days Marches walkers at their home near De Wedren for five editions. Jeroen: ‘When we had children, the way we lived the 4Days Marches changed. After years of partying, we wanted to do something for the walkers. And our children also help out. What I like about it and what I find important is that they get to hear extraordinary stories from strangers.’ The Wolters-Splint family not only looks after the lodgers in their own house, but also after the ones in their neighbour’s house. ‘Our neighbours are always away on holiday when the 4Days Marches are on and that means we can offer eight walkers a nice place to sleep.’

Helen Clarke from New Zealand is looking for a 4Days Marches bed

This year, there is great interest among walkers in lodging with host families in and around Nijmegen. So much so, in fact, that not everyone has found a place to sleep yet. One walker who is still looking for a place to stay is Helen Clarke from New Zealand. At 70 years of age, Helen is set to be the oldest non-Dutch first-time entrant in this year’s edition of the 4Days Marches.
