Military participants and nationalities
Out and about together
Every year, Heumensoord welcomes military participants from dozens of countries. Not only do they march side by side, they also share their camp, their tent and their evenings. Different languages, same blisters. This is where the international atmosphere is most tangible during the 4Days Marches.
Camaraderie and togetherness
After the kilometres
Boots off, arms draped over each other’s shoulders. Heumensoord is not just a camp: it’s also a reunion, a party and relief all rolled into one. For many military participants, this is precisely why they keep coming back year after year.
The builders
The builders
Several days before the start, a complete village has already been set up at Heumensoord. Tents, field kitchens, sanitary facilities: all set up by people you rarely see but without whom no one would be marching. Without them, the 4Days Marches would not be possible.
Perseverance and support
Someone to steady you
Sometimes you don’t need words. An arm around you is enough. The 4Days Marches can be very demanding both physically and mentally, and when it is, it truly matters to have someone by your side. Or in this case, someone to steady you.
